Course Offerings for 2008

The official Summer Session course schedule may be accessed by clicking on the following web link -- http://www.siss.duke.edu/Schedule/.  Select either "2008 Summer Term 1" or "2008 Summer Term 2" to locate courses being offered on the Duke campus.  Course offerings associated with the Duke Marine Lab and Duke Study Abroad programs also appear, but these listings contain no meeting times or room assignments.  (To enroll in courses at the Marine Lab or on a Study Abroad program, you must apply directly through those administrative offices.)

To hunt for a particular course, first select (by clicking on it) the appropriate summer term.  Then use the scroll bar to locate the desired academic department.  Departments are indicated by their official abbreviations – i.e., AAAS is African and African-American Studies, ECON is Economics, etc.

If you click upon an academic department's abbreviation, a screen will pop up with all of the courses being offered in a specific summer term by that department.

If you then select a specific course by clicking upon its number (for example, CHEM 21L), another screen will open that displays the official course description, the instructor's name, the course's meeting time(s), and the room assignment(s).

If you click on "info" (on the far right of your screen), additional course details – such as the undergraduate curricular codes attached to the course – will appear.

Finally, if you click on "Synopsis," additional information on the specific course will appear, if it is available.  This additional information may include a fuller course description, a list of assigned or tentative texts, and details about class assignments, papers, exams, and grading.

Please note that the summer schedule is dynamic – that is, in the weeks ahead a small number of courses might be added to or deleted from the listings, a new instructor might be assigned, or the course could be re-assigned to another classroom.  Please continue to check the "Schedule of Courses" on the web for the most up-to-date information.
